Privacy Policy

You can read the Site without creating an account. We collect personal information only in these cases:

• Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and the preferences you choose (your language and the region you want to hear about). The list is stored and sent by our email provider, MailerLite, and is used only to send the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time from the link in every email.
• Email to us. If you write to us, we receive the information you choose to send and use it only to reply.
• Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver pages and protect the Site against abuse.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We measure traffic with Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It gives us aggregate statistics only (for example, how many people visited a page and which country or website they came from).

We also use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how the Site is used. It sets first-party cookies and processes data such as an online identifier, your approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you view and links you click; Google may process this data on servers outside your country. Google Analytics does not receive your name or email address. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs with consent mode set to “denied”: no analytics cookies are stored and no identifier is kept on your device; Google still receives cookieless measurement pings (such as page views and link clicks), which cannot be tied to a returning visitor. Advertising features are switched off for everyone. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Some features save small pieces of information in your own browser (local storage), such as places you save to “My trip” and whether you have already closed the newsletter prompt. This information stays on your device, is not sent to us, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

Some links on the Site are affiliate links to travel services (for example, Klook and partners of the Travelpayouts network such as Tiqets, Aviasales, Kiwitaxi, Localrent and Yesim). If you click one and make a booking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked, and they never affect what we write.

When you follow an affiliate link, or use a partner search widget shown on some pages (such as the flight search), the partner may set cookies or collect information to track the referral and provide its service. That processing is governed by the partner’s own privacy policy.

Wander Atlas uses the Pinterest API to publish Pins of our own articles to our own Pinterest business account. Wander Atlas is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by Pinterest, Inc.

We connect a single Pinterest account — our own — through Pinterest’s official OAuth flow. We never ask a visitor for Pinterest credentials and we do not collect, store, or process Pinterest data belonging to any other person. From that connection we retain only an encrypted refresh token plus the identifiers of the boards and Pins we ourselves create, which is what lets the scheduled job keep publishing.

If we disconnect the account — or if you revoke our access from your Pinterest settings — we delete the stored token and any Pinterest-derived identifiers from our systems within 30 days, and the scheduled job stops.

We do not sell, resell, license, redistribute, or otherwise make Pinterest content or Pinterest-derived data available to any third party, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

When you unsubscribe, we stop sending you emails straight away. Your address then stays in our email provider’s list marked as unsubscribed, which is what prevents it from being emailed again by mistake. If you would rather it be deleted completely, email us and we will erase it. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to answer them. Plausible data is aggregate and contains no personal data. Google Analytics keeps user- and event-level data for 14 months and then deletes it automatically; aggregated reports may be kept longer.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
