Two shows under one roof
For four days, QSNCC holds two events at once. gamescom asia, the Asian spin-off of the Cologne trade fair, brings publishers, developers and investors together for business days. Thailand Game Show, the country’s long-running consumer expo, fills the halls with playable demos, stage events and esports matches.
This is the second time the pairing has met in Bangkok, after gamescom asia moved here from Singapore. The format splits the crowd. Industry badge holders spend their time in meetings and talks, while the public side is louder and runs on queues for demos, cosplay and merchandise booths.
Getting to QSNCC
The venue sits on Ratchadaphisek Road, between Sukhumvit and Rama IV. Rebuilt and reopened in 2022, it has large, air-conditioned exhibition halls linked by wide concourses, which matters in a city where late October can still bring afternoon storms.
- MRT Blue Line: Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station connects directly to the building.
- From Sukhumvit hotels: one MRT stop from Sukhumvit station, which links to BTS Asok.
- By taxi or Grab: Ratchadaphisek and Rama IV jam badly at evening rush hour, so most visitors use the train both ways.
Visitors from abroad usually stay around Asok or Phrom Phong. Both are a short MRT or BTS hop from the halls.
Working the show floor
Fan weekends get the biggest crowds. October 31 and November 1 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, and Thailand Game Show regularly draws families and students on those days. Regulars usually head straight for the most hyped demo booths when the doors open, because those lines grow fastest. Stage shows and merchandise come later.
Here is what attendees usually carry:
- A charged phone and power bank, for e-tickets, QR payments and booth sign-ups
- A light layer, as the halls are kept cold
- A tote bag for the freebies and merch handed out at booths
Most fans plan on a full day for the consumer side. Business visitors tend to book their meetings across all of the trade days.
Paying, queuing and taking breaks in Khlong Toei
Thai payment habits shape the day. PromptPay QR codes and cards are standard at booths and food stalls, and tipping is not expected at counters. Queues for demos and signings are orderly single lines run by booth staff. Many use timed slots or a sign-up, often through a QR code at the booth.
Cosplayers are a big part of Thailand Game Show. Locals ask before taking a photo, and it is polite to do the same. If the noise gets too much, Benjakitti Forest Park is right beside the convention centre, with boardwalks over its wetlands. Lumphini Park is a short walk west along Rama IV.
For dinner after the show, attendees usually take the MRT one stop to Sukhumvit, where the Asok area has restaurants at every price level. Khlong Toei Market, Bangkok’s large wholesale fresh market, is close by for anyone who wants to see the city outside the convention bubble.
