Why go
Coastal Coffee is a café built right on the sand of Ochheuteal Beach, the long stretch of beach on the southern side of Sihanoukville. Its surfboard-shaped sign hangs over a rattan swing on the beach, and the main room looks straight out to sea.
It is an easy place to stop between swims or walks along the shore: order a coffee or a cold drink, take a seat facing the water and stay a while.
From our visit
Our editor, Pixer, stopped in at the end of October. It is a great spot to sit facing the beach and enjoy coffee and all kinds of other drinks.
The interior is clean and well designed. Tall timber beams frame the ceiling, woven rattan lamps shaped like fish hang over the room, and the coffee bar is clad in deep green fish-scale tiles. The armchairs are covered in orange and white stripes, which suits the seaside setting.
What stays with you is how open the place feels. Folding glass doors run along the beach side, so the room flows onto a covered terrace and the palms and sea beyond.
Watching the sunlight dance on the waves from your seat is a quiet pleasure, and it is the main reason to come.
Getting there
The café is on the beachfront of Ochheuteal Beach, a short ride from the center of Sihanoukville. Tuk-tuks and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way to get there. Ask for “Coastal Coffee, Ochheuteal” or drop the pin from your map app.
