Seoul’s longest-running K-pop show, on Yas Island
Dream Concert is Korea’s veteran multi-act K-pop festival. It began in Seoul in 1995. It usually takes over a stadium and puts many groups on one stage across a single long evening.
The Abu Dhabi edition takes place on November 22, 2026, on Yas Island. SEVENTEEN headline. The 2015-debut group’s fandom, CARAT, is one of the largest in K-pop. (G)I-DLE join them, along with other acts on a shared bill. Each group typically plays a shorter set than at a solo concert. That is the trade-off: you get variety instead of a full setlist.
Reaching the island
Yas Island sits on the northeast edge of Abu Dhabi. It is closer to the airport than to downtown.
- From Abu Dhabi’s international airport: roughly 10 minutes by taxi.
- From central Abu Dhabi (Corniche, Al Maryah Island): about 25–30 minutes by road.
- From Dubai: around 1 hour 15 minutes on the E11 by car. Many fans travel down for the night.
- Taxis: the cream-and-white Abu Dhabi taxis are metered. Ride-hailing apps such as Careem and Uber also operate across the island.
Yas is built for crowds, with the Formula 1 circuit, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and Yas Mall all clustered together. Road access is usually smooth during the day. It gets slower when a big show empties out.
Lightsticks, dress and the ride home
This part is about behaving well in the UAE as much as at a K-pop show.
- Lightsticks: fans carry their official ones. A CARATBONG appears in SEVENTEEN’s sections, and (G)I-DLE fans bring their own. At multi-act shows, people usually stay through other groups’ sets out of courtesy rather than leave between them.
- Fan chants: Gulf audiences learn the Korean fanchants and sing them loudly. Regulars know them before the night.
- Dress: concert wear is relaxed. Malls and public areas on Yas still expect shoulders and knees covered, so many fans bring a layer for the walk in and out.
- Behaviour: public displays of affection and public drunkenness are taken seriously here. Alcohol is served only in licensed venues.
- Filming: phone clips are normal at K-pop shows. Professional cameras and drones are a different matter and are generally restricted.
- Leaving: taxi ranks build up straight after a stadium-sized finale. Fans often walk toward Yas Mall or a hotel lobby and call a ride from there, where pickups move faster.
Payment around the island is overwhelmingly by card and phone. Merch lines at Dream Concerts are famously long and form well before showtime, so fans who want specific items usually join them first.
Staying and spending the day
Most visitors sleep on the island or in the city. The hotels around Yas Plaza and the W Abu Dhabi Yas Island, which straddles the circuit, are within walking distance or a quick ride of the island’s venues. Downtown hotels on the Corniche are cheaper on some nights but mean a longer trip home.
November is the start of the pleasant season. Days are warm, often around 30°C, and evenings are comfortable outdoors. Fans tend to fill the daytime with:
- Yas Mall, for air conditioning, food courts and K-beauty shops
- Ferrari World or Yas Waterworld, for a full theme-park day
- Yas Marina, for dinner by the yachts and the circuit
- Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, about 25 minutes away, for the following morning. Modest dress is required, and the mosque lends abayas.
