That’s exactly why a visitor might find it interesting. You see how a Singapore neighbourhood runs on an ordinary day, from the air-conditioned corridors to the classroom doors. It’s well known around Bukit Timah and consistently well rated, so don’t expect a secret. Expect a working mall.

Getting to Jalan Anak Bukit

The address is 1 Jalan Anak Bukit, just off Upper Bukit Timah Road. The easiest way in is Beauty World MRT station (DT5) on the Downtown Line, which sits right beside the mall. Inside the station, follow the signs for Bukit Timah Plaza.

Bukit Timah Plaza is one part of the Beauty World cluster around the MRT station. Beauty World Centre is just across the road, with Beauty World Food Centre on its top floor. For a proper hawker meal, it’s a better choice than the plaza’s casual options.

If you’d rather see some green, the Rail Corridor passes close to the area. That’s the old railway line, now a long walking and cycling trail. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, home to Singapore’s highest natural hill, is a short bus or taxi ride up the road. It’s worth doing first thing in the morning, then coming back to the plaza for groceries and air conditioning.

Give the mall itself 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Add more time if you combine it with the food centre or a walk nearby.
