Vietnam has never hosted Miss World in the contest’s 73-plus year history, so the 2026 edition was billed as a genuine first for the country — and it fell during the pageant’s 75th anniversary, which organizers planned to treat as a milestone with extra ceremony, media coverage, and side events. The programme was built as a monthlong international event across two of Vietnam’s biggest cities — Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in the south — with contestants and press from well over 100 countries on the schedule.

The timeline: what’s confirmed

The event was set for August 9 to September 5, 2026 — nearly four weeks. The pageant format traditionally front-loads a long stretch of arrivals, national costume presentations, fast-track challenges (sport, talent, beach beauty, etc.), and cultural excursions, before narrowing to a televised final. The announced structure broke down like this:

• Early-to-mid August: roughly 130 contestants arriving, with welcome ceremonies and orientation, split between Hanoi and other Vietnamese destinations for sightseeing and pre-competition segments.
• Late August: fast-track finals and sub-competitions; in past editions, some of these have been open to ticketed public attendance.
• September 5: the grand final, scheduled to be broadcast live from Ho Chi Minh City, crowning the new Miss World.

Exact venues, daily schedules, and which host city took which segment were not part of the public announcement.

Getting there and getting around

Both host cities have major international airports: Noi Bai International (HAN) in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City, both served by long-haul carriers from Europe, North America, Australia, and across Asia. Domestic flights between the two cities take roughly 2 hours and are frequent on Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, and Bamboo Airways, which makes a two-city trip (arrival events in Hanoi, finale in HCMC, or vice versa) very feasible within a single visit.

The Reunification Express train is a scenic but much slower alternative (30+ hours), more a bonus leg than a practical way to link the two cities.

What to see while you’re there

Both cities reward a few extra days:

• Hanoi: the Old Quarter’s tangle of trading streets, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex are all walkable clusters near the historic core.
• Ho Chi Minh City: the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, Ben Thanh Market, and the French colonial-era Notre-Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office sit within a compact District 1 loop.

The two cities also differ in the kitchen: Hanoi’s bun cha and pho bac versus Saigon’s broader, sweeter, herb-heavy Southern cooking and com tam.

Practical notes and when to go

August and early September fall in Vietnam’s rainy season in both the north and south, which means humid heat, sudden downpours, and occasional typhoon activity, especially in central and northern regions. Light, quick-dry clothing and a compact umbrella suit the season better than a poncho. Hotel rates and flight prices in both cities typically rise around major events, and HCMC hotels in particular tighten up on big broadcast nights.

Public ticket sales for the finale were not announced, and no on-sale date was given.
