One night in Bukit Jalil
The date was Saturday, October 10, 2026. MAMAMOO, the RBW quartet of Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa, brought their 4WARD World Tour to Unifi Arena in southern Kuala Lumpur. The group debuted in 2014 and built its name on live vocals rather than playback, which is why its concerts draw a crowd that sings along at full volume.
The venue’s older name, Axiata Arena, is still the one most taxi drivers and Grab riders recognise. It is an indoor bowl with a flat floor and tiered seating wrapped around it. Next to it stands the far larger Bukit Jalil National Stadium, so posts saying “Bukit Jalil” can mean either building.
Reaching Unifi Arena
The rail option is the simplest. LRT Bukit Jalil station on the Sri Petaling Line sits at the edge of the National Sports Complex. From the platform, a covered walkway and paved paths lead across the complex to the arena.
- From KL Sentral: take the LRT or MRT to Hang Tuah, then change to the Sri Petaling Line heading south.
- From Bukit Bintang: the monorail runs to Hang Tuah for the same interchange.
- By car or Grab: the complex has large surface car parks. The roads around Jalan Bukit Jalil clog on any event night.
- Fares: Touch ‘n Go cards and contactless bank cards both work at the LRT gates.
Moomoo etiquette at the arena
Fans of MAMAMOO call themselves Moomoos. On concert nights, the official lightstick, nicknamed the Moobong, glows across the seating tiers. While waiting for doors, attendees usually trade freebies like photocards, stickers and printed fans outside the entrances. Most bring small packs of goods to swap.
- Payment: Malaysians pay mostly by card, Touch ‘n Go eWallet or DuitNow QR. Tipping is not expected at food stalls or in Grab rides.
- Lining up: queues at Unifi Arena form by ticket zone. Floor holders and seated holders often use separate entrances, so fans usually match the gate letter on their ticket to the signs at the doors.
- Bags: large bags and professional cameras are commonly refused at K-pop shows here. Fans tend to carry a small crossbody bag, a power bank and the lightstick.
- Fanchants: Moomoos learn the chants for the main singles, and the arena rewards anyone who knows them.
- Leaving: after the encore the LRT platform backs up badly. Many attendees walk over to Pavilion Bukit Jalil and wait out the rush there, or book their Grab from the mall rather than the arena kerb.
Eating and staying nearby
Pavilion Bukit Jalil is a large mall a few minutes’ walk from the sports complex. It is the usual pre-show stop, with a food court, Malaysian chains, cafés and a supermarket under one roof. The arena’s own concessions are limited, so most fans eat at the mall first and then walk over.
Overseas visitors often stay in Bukit Bintang or near KL Sentral and ride the LRT down. Bukit Jalil and nearby Sri Petaling have a few hotels and serviced apartments within walking distance of the arena. For a late meal, Sri Petaling’s mamak restaurants stay open past midnight and serve roti canai and teh tarik long after the arena empties.
