A six-octave voice in Senayan
Dimash Qudaibergen plays Jakarta on Saturday, December 12, 2026. The Kazakh singer performs at GBK Basket Hall, one of the newer arenas inside the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex in Senayan.
Indonesia has one of his larger fan bases in Asia. The show draws people who found him through his breakout run on China’s Singer in 2017, alongside fans who have followed him for years. Many of those fans call themselves Dears, the name his global fan community uses.
The singer you are going to hear
Dimash was born in 1994 in Aktobe, in western Kazakhstan. He trained in classical music and is known for an unusually wide range. Fans often describe it as six octaves, running from baritone depths up to whistle-register notes.
His repertoire mixes opera, pop and Kazakh folk. The songs international fans usually know best include:
- “SOS d’un terrien en détresse”, the cover that made his name on Singer
- “Opera 2”, with its sustained high passages
- “Daididau”, a Kazakh folk song he often sings in traditional dress
- “Love of Tired Swans” and “Stranger”
The full setlist for Jakarta is not part of what we know, so treat this as a guide to his catalogue, not a promise.
GBK Basket Hall and the complex around it
The hall is an indoor, air-conditioned arena. It was built for basketball at the 2018 Asian Games, which Jakarta co-hosted with Palembang. It stands within the wider GBK grounds, a short walk from the older Istora Senayan and the main Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
The complex is big and flat, with wide paved paths, food stalls and plenty of trees. On concert nights, crowds tend to collect around the main gates. Going in through the side nearest your exit usually saves a long loop on foot.
December falls in Jakarta’s rainy season. Evening downpours are common and can be heavy. Fans usually carry a compact umbrella or light poncho for the walk between the station and the hall.
Getting in and out of Senayan
The MRT is the least stressful way to reach GBK. The North–South Line runs along Jalan Sudirman and stops at two stations that serve the complex:
- Istora station, the closest for most gates on the eastern side
- Senayan station, next to the FX Sudirman mall and the southern edge of the complex
TransJakarta Corridor 1 also stops at Gelora Bung Karno on Jalan Sudirman. Both options avoid the traffic that builds up on the roads around Senayan before and after big events.
Because December 12 is a Saturday, Jakarta’s weekday odd-even plate rule does not apply. Ride-hailing still slows to a crawl near the gates when the show lets out, though.
Getting through the night like a Jakarta concertgoer
Small habits make the evening smoother. Here is what regular gig-goers in Jakarta tend to do.
Paying. Stalls in and around GBK mostly take QRIS, Indonesia’s national QR payment standard, along with e-wallets like GoPay and OVO. A little cash in rupiah helps at smaller vendors.
Getting home. The Gojek and Grab apps both run motorbike taxis (ojek) as well as cars. After a show, many people walk out to Jalan Sudirman or into a mall drop-off area first. Pickups there are faster than at the gates.
Tickets. Tickets go through the promoter’s official channels. Resale through social-media posts is where fans most often lose money, so local fans tend to stay off informal resale.
In the hall. Indonesian audiences sing along loudly. Kazakh flags and fan banners are a common sight at Dimash shows, and the crowd is famously friendly to first-timers.
Before and after: food and a bed nearby
Senayan is one of central Jakarta’s main mall districts, which makes eating before or after the show easy. Plaza Senayan and Senayan City sit just west of the complex across Jalan Asia Afrika. FX Sudirman is right by Senayan station.
Most visitors from out of town stay along the Sudirman–Thamrin corridor or in the SCBD business district. Both are a short MRT or ride-hail trip from GBK. Staying on the MRT line means you can skip the post-show traffic and ride straight back.
