CHOOM lands in Senayan
Seven members, one arena, one Saturday night. BABYMONSTER, the YG Entertainment girl group that debuted in 2024, brings its 2026-27 world tour CHOOM to Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on 17 October 2026. The tour title is the Korean word for dance, 춤, which tells you what the show is built around.
The group on stage is Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora and Chiquita. Setlist, support acts and showtimes aren’t among the facts here, so this guide sticks to what holds for everyone who goes. That means the venue, the route in, and how a Jakarta K-pop crowd handles a night like this.
Indonesia Arena, up close
This is a purpose-built indoor bowl, not a converted hall. Indonesia Arena opened in 2023 inside the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex, usually shortened to GBK. It hosted games of the FIBA Basketball World Cup that same year. It holds roughly 16,000 people.
For concerts, the floor in front of the stage usually becomes a standing or seated section. Tiered seating wraps the remaining sides. Because the room was designed for basketball, the upper tiers look steeply down on the floor, so even seats far back keep a clear view of the formations. For a dance-focused tour, that matters.
GBK itself is a huge site. The main stadium, the aquatics centre, Istora Senayan and Indonesia Arena share one walkable campus of plazas and tree-lined paths. The arena is one stop on that campus, not something you can see from the main road.
Reaching GBK without a car
Jakarta traffic on a Saturday evening is the main enemy, and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman runs right past the complex. Most concertgoers come by rail or bus and finish on foot.
- MRT North-South Line: Istora Mandiri station sits on Sudirman at the eastern edge of GBK. Senayan station is one stop south and serves the same side of the complex.
- TransJakarta Corridor 1 (Blok M–Kota): this line runs down the middle of Sudirman and has a Gelora Bung Karno stop.
- KRL Commuter Line: Palmerah station, on the Rangkasbitung line, is on the western side of the complex. It’s handy for anyone coming from the Tangerang direction.
- Gojek and Grab: both run cars and motorbike taxis (ojek), and drivers use GBK’s gate numbers to find pickup points.
The MRT and TransJakarta take tap payments from bank-issued e-money cards such as Mandiri e-money, BCA Flazz, BRI Brizzi and BNI TapCash. The MRT also sells QR tickets through its app. Whichever gate you enter, the walk across the complex to the arena takes longer than the map suggests.
How the MONSTIEZ queue works
BABYMONSTER’s fandom is called MONSTIEZ, and Indonesian fans turn a concert day into a social event. The area outside a GBK arena show fills up hours before doors. People set up spots for photos and wait in the official merchandise line, which often forms in the early afternoon.
Fan-made freebies are part of the ritual. Fans hand out stickers, photocards, banners and slogans from tote bags, usually for free and sometimes in exchange for a small item of your own. A quick “boleh minta?” (may I have one?) is the polite way to ask. Trading photocards happens on the plaza steps, and people treat it as normal small talk with strangers.
Some Jakarta shows have used a separate step where e-tickets are swapped for wristbands. Promoters also commonly ask for an ID that matches the name on the ticket. The promoter’s notice for this show sets out its own entry and bag rules. Official channels are the only reliable source for those details, because resale and rumour accounts circulate heavily on social media.
At food stalls and the merch booth, QRIS (Indonesia’s standard payment QR code) and cards cover most purchases. Street carts around the complex often prefer small rupiah notes.
Rain, Saturday and the walk out
October in Jakarta sits at the turn into the rainy season, when heavy afternoon downpours are common. Fans waiting outside usually carry a compact poncho rather than an umbrella. Umbrellas crowd the queue and are often unwelcome at the security check. Inside, the arena is air-conditioned. Outside, the humidity hangs on well after dark.
The exit is the part people underestimate. When around 16,000 fans leave at once, ride-hailing prices surge and pickup points jam. Many people walk out toward Senayan City or Plaza Senayan and book their ride from there, or join the long, orderly lines back into Istora Mandiri station.
The MRT runs until late evening, and its closing time varies by schedule. Fans staying across the city often book a hotel within walking distance instead of relying on the last train.
Eating and sleeping around Senayan
The malls ring the complex. Plaza Senayan, Senayan City and FX Sudirman all have food courts and chain restaurants. They’re the usual place to eat before the show and to wait out a rainstorm. The office towers of SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District) are just south and add more restaurants that stay open on weekend nights.
For something faster, carts selling nasi goreng, sate and bakso set up near the GBK gates on big event nights. Indomaret and Alfamart convenience stores nearby sell cold water, which is worth having after hours in the queue.
Hotels with the shortest walk to the arena include Hotel Mulia Senayan and Fairmont Jakarta on Jalan Asia Afrika, and The Sultan Hotel next to the complex. Visitors flying in from abroad often stay along Sudirman or around Blok M. Both areas are on the MRT line, which runs straight back to GBK.
Who this night suits
This is a single-night stop, not a festival, and the day revolves around the arena. The best fit is fans who enjoy the build-up as much as the show: the merch line, the freebie swaps, the slogan cards held up on cue.
If you’re visiting Jakarta mainly for the concert, give it the full day. The complex, the malls and the queue easily fill an afternoon before the lights go down.
