Teshima

Teshima is a small island in the Seto Inland Sea best known for the Teshima Art Museum, a single-room concrete structure set amid terraced rice fields where water seems to breathe across the floor. Once scarred by an infamous illegal toxic waste dumping case, the island has since been reborn as one of the quieter, more contemplative stops on the Setouchi art island circuit.

Getting thereTeshima has no airport or train station of its own: travellers reach it by ferry, most commonly a high speed boat from Takamatsu to Ieura Port, with the one way trip taking around 35 minutes. An alternative route runs by JR train from Okayama to Uno Station, then onward by ferry, with the Okayama to Uno leg taking about 45 minutes; Takamatsu itself is reachable from Tokyo or other major cities by plane or shinkansen.
How long to stay~1 to 1.5 days is enough to see the island's main art sites and fishing villages at an easy pace, since it is possible to visit it in one day, but a little more would be better, maybe one and a half days.
