A week of tennis inside Olympic Park
You reach the courts through Olympic Park itself. The 1988 Games left Seoul this huge green space in Songpa-gu, with lawns, sculpture trails and the restored earthen walls of Mongchon Fortress. The tennis center sits within it, so every walk to the gate passes through parkland.
The Eugene Seoul Open runs from Monday, October 26 to Sunday, November 1, 2026. Matches are played on outdoor hardcourts. The venue also hosts the Korea Open, the WTA stop that has made it the city’s best-known tennis address.
What an ATP Challenger 125 week looks like
Challenger events are the proving ground of men’s professional tennis. The 125 label is the ranking-points value for the singles champion, which puts this among the higher Challenger tiers. That matters to players chasing a place in Grand Slam main draws.
The field draws heavily from Asia, with Korean, Japanese and Chinese players featuring prominently. Expect:
- Qualifying and first-round singles early in the week
- Doubles running alongside singles throughout
- Quarterfinals and semifinals building through Friday and Saturday
- Both finals on the closing weekend, October 31–November 1
The early days are when the outside courts are full and you can drift from match to match. By the weekend, play narrows to the main court.
Getting to Seoul Olympic Park Tennis Center
The subway gets you there easily. Three stations ring the park:
- Olympic Park Station (Line 5, also Line 9): on the park’s eastern side and the closest to the tennis center
- Mongchontoseong Station (Line 8): by the park’s northwest corner, near the World Peace Gate
- Hanseong Baekje Station (Line 9): on the southwest edge
From Mongchontoseong or Hanseong Baekje, the walk through the park to the courts takes a while, though it’s a pleasant one. Jamsil, with Lotte World Tower and Seokchon Lake, is one or two stops west. Many visitors stay there or around Jamsil and Gangnam.
Courtside etiquette at the Olympic Park courts
Tennis has its own rules for the stands, and Korean crowds tend to keep them strictly. A few habits make the day smoother:
- Moving seats: people wait for a changeover, at odd games, before walking to or from their seats. Ushers often hold you at the aisle until then.
- Noise: spectators stay silent during points and applaud after them. Phones go on silent.
- Getting there: a T-money card, sold and topped up at convenience stores and station machines, covers the subway and buses.
- The Korean name: taxi drivers recognise 올림픽공원 테니스경기장 (Olympic Park tennis stadium) more easily than the English.
Tickets, the order of play and venue details come from the tournament organiser. Ticket prices are set there too; none appear in this guide.
Late-October Seoul between matches
Late October is peak autumn in Seoul. Olympic Park’s trees are usually changing colour, and the days are generally crisp and dry. Evenings get cold fast, so spectators at the last matches of the day usually bring a jacket.
Good ways to fill a rain delay or a gap in the schedule:
- Mongchon Fortress: the Baekje-era earthen ramparts inside the park, with a walking path along the top
- Seoul Baekje Museum: beside the fortress, covering the kingdom that built Seoul’s first capital here
- Nine Story Tree and the lone-tree hill: a well-known photo spot on the park’s open lawns
- Seokchon Lake: a lakeside loop next to Lotte World Tower in Jamsil
Who comes, and how long to stay
The crowd is a mix of committed local tennis fans, families from Songpa and people following particular players. Fans of Korean players tend to turn out in force when one of them reaches the later rounds.
A single session lasts a few hours. A full day spent wandering the side courts is easy in the first half of the week. Fans who come for the finals usually make a weekend of it, pairing October 31 and November 1 with a walk through the park and an evening in Jamsil.
