The announced schedule used the standard World Championships format: five days of qualifying and early rounds (singles and doubles across men’s, women’s, and mixed draws) building toward quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals on the closing weekend of August 22–23. Session tickets are usually sold separately for morning and evening blocks, with final-day sessions commanding the highest demand and price.

Beyond the court, Delhi’s badminton culture runs deep — India has produced a run of world-class players over the past two decades, so local crowds tend to be knowledgeable and vocal, especially for matches involving Indian players like Sen and Sindhu.

When to go and what else to see

August in Delhi falls within the monsoon season: hot, humid days (highs commonly in the low-to-mid 30s°C) with intermittent heavy rain. Play is indoors, but the streets outside are wet and sticky. It’s shoulder season for tourism, meaning hotel rates and flights tend to be more reasonable than in Delhi’s popular winter high season (October–March).

Downtime between sessions suits Delhi’s landmark sites, many an easy metro ride from the venue: Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, the Lodhi Garden ruins, and the bazaars of Old Delhi around Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid. Connaught Place, Delhi’s central shopping and dining hub, is a convenient base with metro access on the Yellow and Blue lines.

Central Delhi — Connaught Place, Lutyens’ Delhi, or South Delhi — is the practical place to stay, rather than out by the airport, since the arena sits close to the city center. Security screening is standard at major Indian sporting events, and it adds time at the gates before each session.
