What’s happening

Ezra Collective, the Mercury Prize-winning London jazz quintet, were set to play their first ever Japan headline show on October 13, 2026. The venue was Toyosu Pit, a mid-sized standing hall in Tokyo’s Koto ward built for exactly this kind of high-energy live set.

The band’s sound mixes Afrobeat, hip-hop and jazz, and their live shows lean loud and physical rather than seated and reserved. Toyosu Pit’s flat, open floor suits that: the hall is laid out for a standing crowd, not rows of chairs.

The show was billed as a debut Japan date, so there was no back catalogue of past Tokyo shows to compare it to. It stood as a one-off rather than a stop on a recurring tour.

Toyosu Pit: getting there and getting in

Toyosu Pit is in Koto ward, on Tokyo Bay’s reclaimed waterfront, inside the Toyosu area redeveloped from old gasworks land into offices, apartments and event space.

• Nearest station: Shin-Toyosu, on the Yurikamome automated line
• Walk from station to venue: roughly 5–7 minutes, mostly flat and covered
• Alternative route: Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho line, then a longer walk or short bus/taxi hop
• The hall is a converted warehouse-style shed: concrete floor, high ceiling, no fixed seating for standing shows

Yurikamome trains run from Shimbashi and connect to the JR and Ginza lines there, so most visitors coming from central Tokyo hotels change at Shimbashi.

Tickets and pricing

Prices for standing shows like this one typically vary by seller and by tier. Japanese club and arena shows commonly separate standing floor tickets from any elevated or seated area, when one exists.

International fans often buy through official overseas ticket agents or resale-checked platforms rather than Japanese domestic sites that require a local address or phone number. Some Japanese venues also run a numbered-entry system for standing tickets, where the ticket number determines when each holder is let onto the floor, rather than first-come-first-served at the door.

Secondary resale listings are not a reliable guide to the base price of a show.

Making a night of it around Toyosu

Toyosu itself is a modern, low-rise district built around a fish and produce market relocation, waterfront parks and shopping complexes, so it’s quieter and more spread out than central Tokyo nightlife zones.

• Toyosu Market: the wholesale fish market that replaced Tsukiji’s outer wholesale functions, open mornings, with early hours that suit a same-day visit before an evening show
• LaLaport Toyosu: a large shopping and dining complex a short walk from the station, with plenty of places for a pre-show meal
• Harumi and Odaiba: connected by bridges and short rides, easy to combine with a day around the bay

Yurikamome trains stop running late at night, well before typical festival curfews elsewhere. A taxi back toward central Tokyo is the usual backup once the last train has gone.
