Pick Travel eSIM
Solo or two, 5 days: a travel eSIM is close to the right answer. Install it at home, it connects as you land, and it is usually the cheapest per GB.

Mobile networks in Georgia
MagtiSilknetCellfie
Georgia has three mobile networks: Magti, Silknet and Cellfie. Silknet and Cellfie both sell an eSIM on their own websites, and Silknet runs tourist packages from 3 to 30 days that you switch on in the My Silknet app or with the code *017#. A travel eSIM from an international seller rides on these same networks; check which one it names before you buy.
Signal is strongest in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and the towns along the main highways, and Magti advertises 5G and the widest coverage in the country. In the mountains, around Mestia in Svaneti and on the road up to Stepantsminda and Gudauri, coverage depends on the valley and the network, so expect stretches without signal on long drives.
Know this first in Georgia
Download offline maps and save your guesthouse and driver contacts before heading into Svaneti or up the Georgian Military Road to Kazbegi, in case part of the drive has no signal.
Will an eSIM work on my phone?
Two things must both be true: the phone supports eSIM, and it is not locked to a carrier. A locked phone can install an eSIM and still never connect.
Most iPhones from the XS and XR on support eSIM; of those sold in mainland China, only a few recent models do, and inside mainland China an eSIM from abroad cannot be installed. Lock status: Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock should read “No SIM restrictions”.
Menu names differ by maker, and the same model can lack eSIM depending on the country it was sold in. No menu? Use the EID check above.
Answer the two questionsAn EID plus an unlocked phone means a travel eSIM will work.

What to look for in a Georgia plan
- Days first, data second — a plan that expires mid-trip is worse than one that runs a little low.
- Hotspot/tethering allowed, if you travel with a laptop or share with a partner.
- Which local network it uses — see above; coverage beats a small price difference.
- A top-up option, so you can extend without installing a new eSIM.
- Data-only is normal: most travel eSIMs come without a phone number, and calls happen over WhatsApp or FaceTime anyway.
Good to know in Georgia
- Silknet's tourist packages come in several lengths; pick one that covers your whole stay so it does not lapse on the last day of a mountain trip.
- A trip that carries on into Armenia, Turkey or Azerbaijan needs a plan that covers that country too, so check the coverage list before you cross the border.

Frequently asked questions
Will WhatsApp and my phone number still work?
Yes. Keep your home SIM installed and WhatsApp stays tied to your usual number while data flows through the travel eSIM.
Can I share the data with my laptop?
Usually yes, via your phone's hotspot — but some plans block tethering, so check the plan details before buying.
When should I buy and install it?
A few days before departure, on home WiFi. Enable it when you land — unless the plan starts at install, which is why you check the activation rule first.
My phone doesn't support eSIM — now what?
A physical tourist SIM on arrival or a pocket WiFi rental still works fine — the comparison above applies the same way.
Why are there no prices on this page?
Because they change weekly. A price table would mislead you within a month, so we link to live pricing instead.
